Exploring Printmaking
Discover a range of printmaking techniques from monoprinting and monotype to collagraph and linocut.
Service Description
EXPLORING PRINTMAKING. FROM MONOTYPES TO LINOCUTS. Discover the expressive possibilities of printmaking in a hands-on studio course. This workshop will introduce a range of techniques, including monoprinting (additive and subtractive methods) and trace monotype printing, as well as collagraph and linocut. Through creative experimentation and guided instruction, participants will learn to design, ink, and print original works using both traditional and contemporary approaches. No prior experience is required—just a willingness to explore texture, colour, and process. This five-day course will take participants through a full creative journey in printmaking. It will begin with an introduction to printmaking, covering essential tools and materials, before moving into monoprinting and trace monotype techniques, where spontaneous, painterly experimentation will be encouraged. Participants will then explore collagraph, building and printing textured plates, followed by linocut, focusing on carving, inking, and multi-layer printing. The course will conclude with experimental combinations and a final project, allowing each participant to develop a personal print series while experimenting with textures, natural objects, and creative layering.
